Infidelity happens – as much as we'd like to think that our relationships will always be perfect, there is a chance that your partner could be cheating on you. The good thing is that it doesn't happen as much as most people would think. While we are bombarded with movies, television and media where cheating spouses run rampant – the truth is that only about 15% of women and 22% of men have cheated on their spouses or will in the future.
Still, when you feel as if your partner may be cheating, it can be heartbreaking and leave you on edge. How do you tell if they really are cheating or if you're just feeling a bit insecure? Here are some of the signs of infidelity that most cheating spouses will leave behind.
Working Late – This is a typical lie that cheaters use when they need to find time to be off with their paramours. Although it is one of the most well-known signs of cheating, men and women still use this lie to get away with their dirty deeds. Of course, just because your spouse says he or she will be working late does not mean they will be cheating. If you are suspicious, pop in at their place of work with a surprise dinner!
Strange Phone Behavior – If your partner doesn't let his or her phone out of their sight or they run out of the room to answer a phone call – you may have reason to be suspicious. Another tell-tale sign is if your spouse has to leave for some reason soon after they receive a telephone call. You may also want to check the cell phone bill or the house phone bill to see if there are any strange phone numbers. Hang-up calls could even be your spouse's lover waiting to see if their new love interest answers the phone!
Trying to Get You Out of the House – Many times, a cheater will try to get you out of the house so they are free to be with their lover. For instance, what seems a polite suggestion for you to visit a friend or family member that lives a good distance away may be an attempt to have more time with a lover. The cheating may even be taking place in your home! Here are a few things you can do:
• Come home from work or visiting early and unannounced. Just pop right back in when your spouse least expects you to – you can simply tell them that you aren't feeling well. Of course, if you catch them in the act – they will be the ones coming up with excuses.
• Pretend to leave the house for a long time (as if to visit a friend in a nearby town) and sneak back in. Stay quietly in a hidden area of your home and see what happens. Be sure to park your vehicle somewhere hidden.
• Purchase a digital telephone recorder and place it on the phones inconspicuously. These will record telephone conversations and you may find the answers you need.
Although not many spouses will actually participate in an affair, it does happen. You shouldn't have to be stuck in the dark. Use the signs of infidelity to determine whether you should be suspicious or not.
